THE INSPIRATION
“The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him, he is always doing both.”
-American writer, James A. Michener
Our Story
Hi! I’m Amber A. Armstrong-Davis, Founder and CEO of lifestyle experiences company, A3D. The journey from graduating from The University of Texas School of Law to a career in event planning/management and becoming a wine professional can take unexpected turns. During the last semester of law school, I traveled abroad to study. During the flight, I found myself seated next to an older gentleman from Chile, South America. As our conversation unfolded, I opened up and confided in him about my disappointment in lacking passion for practicing law. He then shared a transformative quote by American writer James A. Michener. This serendipitous chat with a stranger inspired me to pursue with purpose the things in life that bring me joy.
In my case, after completing law school, I initially pursued a career in the travel industry by becoming a travel agent in Baltimore, MD, specializing in luxury leisure excursions. Subsequently, I was recruited by a luxury all-inclusive hotel management company to serve as the Brand Ambassador for their Caribbean resorts. This role involved planning and hosting familiarization trips for travel agents, providing them with firsthand experiences at different islands and luxury resorts. Despite the exciting nature of this job, I eventually felt homesick and returned to Texas. There, I joined the Hyatt Regency Hotel, where I expanded my knowledge of high-end hotels and learned about the diverse needs of various groups.
Throughout my 20+ years of mastering the art of living, I delved into the world of wine, becoming an expert, and catering to the most discerning palates at my events. I not only embody my personal enthusiasm for Carpe Diem and intentional living, but I have also unearthed my true calling in seamlessly integrating work with play and leisure. Currently, my financier husband Rod and I manage a team of professionals that specialize in uniting people and communities through A3D's thoughtfully curated professional services and brand extensions - - Amber Adriahn (Corporate Event Planning), Wineing About (A Mobile Wine Bar Experience), Elite Alliance (Affinity Partner Program) and coming soon in Fall 2024, Hott Roddz (Exotic Car Club & Lounge).
Embracing the challenge of blurring the lines between work and play, I have finally found fulfillment in the realization that, in truth, I am always engaged in both. My journey reflects the importance of following one's passions and finding inspiration in unexpected places - - even on airplanes.
Here’s to you, Mr. Michener,
